The WC ST Louis Thunder-Cats
2008G team is an entry level club team that has roster spots available. Players currently playing Club, REC
or CYC soccer that love the game and wish to play high school or college soccer
– this IS the club team for you ! Players that wish to learn, understand the
game, develop and play as a team regardless of skill are encouraged to apply. The
goal of this team is to develop skills and technical abilities so that players
develop and are ready for HS and college soccer.
I
have played outdoor and indoor soccer at all levels from youth (recreational
and club), high school, college to semi-professional soccer. As a USSF/FIFA
referee of >10 years, I have also enforced the laws of the game. As injuries
halted my playing career, I turned my expertise to training soccer players with
>20 years of instructing players age 4 years to adults. I have multiple
certifications including a USSF National D license as well as regularly
attending coaching clinics. I currently hold memberships to ASET (Association
for Soccer Education and Training) and NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches
Association of America). Players are developed under “Total Soccer” and “Tiki
Taka” which are very fluid and possession styles of play. Success using this
style encourages technical skills, fluid movement and transition play, with
players playing both offense and defense. This means the girls should
develop as skilled players, be able to play multiple positions, not be afraid
to try and fail, and not expect to win every game.
Training sessions are based upon the
European Academy style (Periodization Model) which emphasizes 1) Communication/Observation, 2) Decision
Making and 3) Execution. This framework focuses on performing as many
soccer actions as possible all of which are executed at 100%. Players therefore
learn the game by playing the game with their own decisions determining the
outcomes of games. Furthermore, WC ST Louis provides additional training and
opportunities to players. Club training where fundamental footskills are
emphasized is on Wed during both the Fall and Spring seasons with a Winter
Skills Camp, High School Camp (Winter and Summer), Summer Keeper camps and
additional skills and fitness camps throughout the year. In addition players
that show promise with proficient technical skills are provided an opportunity
to play on occasion with higher level teams for games and tournaments. This
enhances the overall player experience. Therefore, the WC ST Louis 2008G team
has a unique framework that encourages player development, success and fun.
Kickarounds will begin end of May (6-7:30pm at Buder Park) through tryouts in
June 2019. Additional times maybe available so please contact the coach
